Future Forward Vision: Building a Brighter and Sustainable Future for All
Santa Clara is my home, and I am dedicated to shaping a sustainable, thriving community that serves everyone—from seniors to youth and working families. My “Community First” approach focuses on enhancing quality of life, fostering economic growth, and ensuring our city grows in a sustainable and inclusive way. Together, we can create a future where everyone benefits.
1. High Quality of Life and Infrastructure
- Affordable Housing & Smarter Planning: Address housing shortages with smarter planning, prioritizing both market-rate and affordable options. Tackle homelessness and enhance infrastructure to support the housing boom in the Northside, ensuring safer communities for residents and visitors alike.
- Public Safety & Entertainment: Improve safety, create walkable neighborhoods, and enhance entertainment options. Ensure that major events, including those at Levi’s Stadium, provide a positive experience for both residents and visitors.
- Community Programs for All Ages: Establish programs that cater to seniors, working families, and youth. Foster more open spaces and local activities to bring the community together.
- Climate-Friendly Initiatives: Embrace sustainability with climate-friendly projects such as solar energy, electric city fleets, and aiming for Net Zero emissions by 2045. Strengthen water recycling and implement a robust waste management plan by 2026.
- Improved Transportation & Connectivity: Develop better connectivity between Caltrain, BART, buses, bike paths, and pedestrian walkways to improve transportation and make Santa Clara a more livable city.
2. Economic Development for Community Benefit
- Maximize Economic Benefits from the 2026 Games: Leverage upcoming events like the 2026 Games to generate additional revenue for the General Fund through sales and tourism taxes, ensuring long-term growth.
- Support Local Businesses: Activate key city centers and streamline the business permitting process to drive foot traffic to small, local businesses. Create a vibrant environment with entertainment, dining, and retail options for residents and visitors.
- Build Santa Clara’s Brand: Establish Santa Clara as a hub for innovation, sports, culture, entertainment, and conferences, boosting our reputation regionally and globally.
3. Increased Community Engagement and Leadership Pipeline
- District-Wide Committees: Create committees across all districts to enhance community feedback and foster inclusion of diverse voices. Ensure residents feel involved in decisions that shape their neighborhoods.
- Leadership Development: Build a pipeline of future leaders by creating mentorship opportunities and fostering youth engagement. Empower residents to actively participate in shaping Santa Clara’s future.
- Sports & Entertainment Task Force: Form a task force to address the impact of large events on District 1, ensuring safety and reducing disruptions to residents’ lives.
4. Climate Solutions & Opportunities
- Net Zero by 2045: Embrace green solutions such as solar power for city buildings and electrifying city fleets. Bring climate-related jobs to Santa Clara, aligning sustainability with economic growth.
- Waste & Water Management: Implement improved water recycling efforts and robust waste management strategies to ensure Santa Clara’s long-term sustainability.
Governance with Integrity
- Transparency & Inclusivity: Foster greater transparency in government by making decisions that are data-driven and inclusive of community input. Move away from backroom deals and increase public access to government operations.
- Community First: By working together with local businesses, residents, and organizations, we can build a stronger, more collaborative Santa Clara that supports growth, opportunity, and sustainability for all.
Together, we can build a thriving, sustainable Santa Clara that prioritizes the needs of its residents and creates a BRIGHTER Future for a a high quality of life. I hope to earn your vote and support as we work toward this shared vision.
Vision
It’s our responsibility to find ways to reduce burdens on the residents and increase resources and tools through greater collaboration.
I would love to see mini destinations throughout Santa Clara. A revitalized downtown, happening uptown with more programming, celebrations of the community through the city, more people walking and biking, small public spaces activated with varied art and cultural initiatives, more gardens of fruits and veggies around, and nurturing environment for children to grown and seniors to enjoy. Places for parents and grandparents to work or relax as children play safely. Companies supporting the local neighborhoods and uplifting the community!
I believe many things can become a reality by working together with the people and the companies in the city. The new way is openness, collaboration, innovation, and creating high-quality experiences! All it takes is the power of the community, the power of the people!
