Assembly Member Kansen Chu Honored 86 Community Heroes in Award Ceremony
At San Jose’s Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. on May 25, Assembly member Kansen Chu honored 86 Community Heroes from the 25th Assembly District (comprising of Santa Clara, Fremont, Milpitas, Newark and San Jose). A number of these honorees are associated with Santa Clara and they included (but were not limited to) Annabel Tomacder Ruiz, program coordinator at Mission College; Bob Byrd, president of the Harris-Lass Historic Museum; Noreen Carlson, community activist; Charles Frost, executive director of the Santa Clara Vanguard; Marlys Lee, a founding member of the Santa Clara Veterans Memorial; Dominic Caserta, Santa Clara Vice Mayor; and employees of the Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) Patricia Picard, Patricia Eldridge and Melissa Le.
“This is a great opportunity to honor extraordinary individuals who have demonstrated outstanding public service while going above and beyond for our community,” Chu said in a press release.
